Uttarakhand, known for its diverse agro-climatic zones, has traditionally been a significant producer of various fruits, especially in its hilly regions. However, recent years have seen notable shifts in production patterns due to climatic and infrastructural challenges.

Apples: Production has declined from a peak of 123,228 metric tons in 2013 to 42,973 metric tons in 2025, marking a record low.

Pears: Similarly, pear production decreased from 108,648 metric tons in 2013 to 20,536 metric tons in 2025.

Overall Fruit Production: The state has experienced a significant decline in fruit yields, particularly of temperate fruits like apples, pears, peaches, plums, and apricots. This downturn is primarily attributed to warming climates, changing temperature patterns, and shifts in agricultural practices.
